Hello
My name is Lori. I am 44 years old and recently diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome. When I quit work in 2005 to start a family, I began A Quiet Week In The House. I intended to reflect on my life and perhaps amuse a few like-minded folks. This holds true now.
I hope to share my wisdom, experiences, and humor--although it will come with a generous dose of worry, obsessiveness, and uncertainty. It is both liberating and terrifying to share with you now!
I journal at The Number Garden.
Viewpoint
My viewpoint changes everyday. As I read and explore, new ideas connect, giving me fresh perspective. My core, nevertheless, remains the same. I have autism and I want to be accepted for who I am. I am living a happy balanced life now, despite my struggles. I respect people, both on and off the spectrum, working to make sense of their lives, though we may take different paths.
My path might seem odd at times, because I see, hear, and understand the world differently. I come by this naturally. My family history includes generations of oddball geniuses, schizophrenics and manic-depressives. I can trace a paternal Asperger path back to my great, great grandfather.
What I Am Not
I'm not here to argue politics, causes, or cures with anyone. I'm just posting about my life and hoping for a chuckle and a nod. I welcome diverse and respectful opinions; I delete unsavory arguments.
